Two prisoners were killed this morning and 39 others injured when warders at the Kaduna Prison tried to prevent a jail break following protest by the prisoners over the preferential treatment being given to Reverend Emeka Ezeugo, a.k.a. Rev. King, the notorious Lagos-based christian cleric condemned to death for the murder of one of his church members.

The Comptroller-General of Nigerian Prisons, Olusola Ogundipe while speaking to journalists this morning after inspecting two prison buildings burnt down by the protesting prisoners, said it is unfortunate that prison inmates could take laws into their hands in that manner.

He disclosed further that the prisoners must have been angered by the treatment given to some of the prison inmates by the authorities and therefore decided to protest.

Rev. King is said to be in that same prison and he is being given special tratment.

He was said to be enjoying priviledges as a condemned prisoner. However, Ogundipe promised to investigate the real cause and bring to book all the culprits involved in the riot. He expressed displeasure over the action of the inmates.

Rev. King, founder of the Christian Praying Assembly (CPA) was sentenced to death by hanging three years ago by Justice Olubunmi Oyewole of the Ikeja High Court after finding him guilty of killing a member of his church.

He was found guilty of causing the death of Miss Ann Uzor an attempted murdered of five others namely: Olisa, Chiejina, Onuora, Unisobah, Vivian Ezeocha, Jessica Nwane and Kisiso Chukwu Ezenwankwo.

He was sentenced to 100 years imprisonment on the five counts charge on the attempted murdered of the other five members.

He appealed against the judgement at the Appeal Court.

Rev. King who used to call himself Jesus was first detained at the Ikoyi Prisons but was later moved to Kuje Prison and later transferred to Kaduna Prison.
