Don't Treat Children As Property In Custody Battles – Do2dtun
Popular media personality Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, professionally known as Do2dtun, has spoken out against treating children as possessions during separation and custody disputes.
In a recent post on his X (formerly Twitter), he warned that the idea that one parent "owns" a child often leads to conflict and emotional harm for everyone involved.
Do2dtun emphasized that children belong to both parties and have equal rights and responsibilities. He noted that while one parent may be angry if the other uses the child as a pawn, the painful reality is that children will eventually make their own choices regardless of parental sacrifices.
He advised parents to act for the sake of the child's wellbeing, not for validation or loyalty.
He wrote::
"The idea of treating children like a possession or property, or as if you own them in a fight, can eventually become an ultimate undoing. They belong to both parties and have equal rights and responsibilities."
"The part no one tells you: no matter the sacrifice made, sadly, the kids will still choose."
"Do everything cos you want them to be better, not because you want them to love you only or choose you."
