48 Years Of Marriage Is Boring – Charly Boy Opens Up
Nigerian singer Charles Oputa, better known as Charly Boy, has candidly shared his thoughts on his nearly five-decade-long marriage, admitting that the journey has not always been exciting.
Speaking on Yanga 89.9FM, the veteran entertainer reflected on the reality of being with one person for 48 years, comparing it to eating the same meal repeatedly.
The legendary singer acknowledged that familiarity over time can reduce excitement in relationships, noting that the devil one knows is better than the angel one doesn't know. He emphasised that commitment comes with routine, challenges, and moments of boredom, stressing that every marriage requires constant effort and management to sustain.
Charly Boy also disclosed that he and his wife avoid involving third parties in their disagreements, as external opinions rarely help resolve marital issues. He kicked against cheating and infidelity, stating that such actions undermine trust in any relationship.
He said:
"I have been married to one woman for 48 years. It is very boring. Imagine eating the same Egusi for years, it's boring now."
