Davido Expresses Skepticism About Joining Politics
Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has expressed skepticism in joining politics, citing legacy factors and obvious celebrity examples as a leading risk factor.
Speaking in a recent livestream on Twitch with streamer Davrel, Davido admitted that he was considering delving into politics, however, the consideration of his goodwill, career trajectory and legacy have made him weigh his options.
According to the singer, other celebrities who have transitioned into the political space have not really attained success.
“Before, I wanted to go into politics but honestly, now, I see it two ways. All my years of goodwill, my name and my career, all the hard work and the fan base we have built, it is tricky because the way people look at things; the superstars that have gone into politics, the transition hasn’t really been successful.
“I feel like if you are a politician, you are a politician. It is like it is their business."
