Following the burial of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, veteran actor Chiwetalu Agu has penned a touching tribute to celebrate his legacy.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, Agu expressed sadness over the demise of the actor. He noted that Ekubo must have put so much passion, sacrifice and heart into his craft.

Hailing him, he stated that the movie industry has not just lost an actor, but a storyteller left with many roles to bring to life, declaring that his energy, dedication and presence cannot be forgotten.

He said:
"Rest in peace, Alex Ekubo. I am deeply saddened by y your passing. As a fellow actor, who has walked this part for many years, I know how much passion, sacrifice and heart you poured into your craft. You were young, talented and full of promise, and it hurts to see a light like yours go out so soon. The stage and screen haven’t just lost an actor but a storyteller who still has many roles left to bring to life. Your presence, energy, and dedication will not be forgotten."

The Nigerian Voice reported that Alexx Ekubo gave up the ghost on May 11, at the age of 40, following a battle with cancer.

The actor's Service of Songs was held at the Monarch Event Centre in the Lekki area of Lagos State on June 10. The ceremony drew a mix of Nigeria’s entertainment and political elite. The atmosphere was charged with emotion as colleagues, friends, and fans came together to pay their final respects to the beloved actor.

Recall that following the arrival of the actor's body at his father’s compound at Arochukwu, Abia State on Wednesday, June 17, a wake-keep was organized in his memory, with Ini Edo, IK Ogbonna, Mike Godson, Omoni Oboli, Ayo Makun, amongst others in attendance.

Alexx Ekubo was finally laid to rest amidst tears on Thursday, June 18.
