Actress Teniola Aladese Kicks Against Stereotypes Of Household Chores
Actress Teniola Aladese, has raised an awareness about the rampant stereotypes in household chores.
The movie star, expressed her disapproval of the act during a candid interview on the ‘That’s What She Said’ podcast, questioning the reason behind societal construction of such roles.
She pointed out why women are the only ones who can wash plate, noting how both the man and woman go out to work, yet the woman still comes back to do every other domestic work.
She stressed that such stereotype should be short-lived, while clamouring for equal representation from both partners to be implemented.
She said:
"Why can’t a man wash a plate? Why do we keep perpetuating these gender stereotypes? A woman will cook, wash plates, and the man will just work. But women also work. We go out there, we hustle just like them. Why is it that the moment we come home, it’s the woman who has to do everything? Cook, clean, wash… everything!."
