"If You Run An NGO/Charity, There's A Likelihood That You Will Be On EFCC's Radar" - Stan Alieke
Popular Nigerian lawyer, Stan Alieke, has explained the reason why the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC target those who run NGOs or charity.
According to him, NGOs or charity are known as the best channel to launder money through, hence the reason why the officials of the anti-graft agency clamp down on those who run the organizations.
"NGOs/Charities are said to be the best channel to launder money through. If you run an NGO/ Charity there's a likelihood that you will be on EFCC radar.
He further explained in detail what money laundering is about, "Money laundering is as easy as someone sending you money, later on asking you to send it back to him that it was a mistake or even asking you to take a percentage off for your trouble. As for NGOs is as easy as a donor sending you money for support & later on asking you to send him back some of the money that he sent you more than he should have. Pay attention to these things."
Recall that the Nigerian Voice reported that controversial self-acclaimed activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan was released from the custody of the EFCC on Wednesday.
He explained the reason behind his arrest as being suspected of money laundering. He, however, wondered if he had enough wealth to be suspected of money laundering.
He noted that his numerous charity deeds was part of what led to suspicion and his eventual arrest.
