Economic Hardship: Basketmouth Concludes That Nigeria Can Never Be Better
Popular comedian, Basketmouth, has concluded that Nigeria can never get better.
The comedian explained that the economic situation of the country is in a terrible state, and the inflation rate and the depreciation of the Naira is making it worse.
He noted that the Naira has been depreciating since 1970; he cited an instance of how it was one Naira to a dollar in the year he was born (1970), but now, it is 1600 to a dollar.
The comedian argued that since 1970, the Naira has never crashed back to the initial price. He quizzed the government on what steps they have taken to solve Nigeria's hardship.
Basketmouth made this known during a viral interview with AFRIMMA. He said:
“Nothing can be done, quote me anywhere. Think about it.
“In the year I was born 1970, it was one naira to a dollar but now N1600 to 1dollar.
“There was never a time from 1970 that the dollar crashed and went back to what it was. It has never happened. Every time it changes, all the conversations you will be hearing are ‘E go better, E go better.’ it is getting worse.
“What are the policies? And what have they done? Now 100 pages of passport has been increased to N100,000. I suspect that our government planned to make the Nigerian population suffer. So that when they suffer they can now want to japa, then they will increase the price of the passport to make more money."
“It is not like I have given up hope, I’m hopeful maybe one day, the country will be better. Let all believe in that pipe dream. It’s over."
