Grammys Award: Governor Sanwo-olu Congratulates Tems Following Win
Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu, the Governor of Lagos State, has congratulated Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, following her win at the 2025 Grammys award.
The Nigerian Voice recalls that Temilade Openiyi, widely known as Tems, clinched the category of the Best African Music Performance awards at the 67th Grammys on Sunday, February 2nd, 2025.
Tems’ hit song ‘Love Me Jeje’ emerged victorious over “Tomorrow” (Yemi Alade); “MMS” (Asake & Wizkid); “Sensational” (Chris Brown featuring Davido & Lojay); and “Higher” (Burna Boy).
Taking to his X handle, Governor Sanwo-olu congratulated Tems for her victory. He described her achievement as historic for being the first Nigerian artiste to win in the category, which was a testament to her exceptional talent and dedication.
Furthermore, he commended other Nigerian nominees in the.Best African Music Performance awards, which Tems won. He praised them for their outstanding contributions to music.
