“Making Money Cakes, Money Flowers, or Money Bouquets Are Criminal Offences” – Stan Alieke Issues Valentine Legal Advice
Popular Nigerian lawyer Stan Alieke has issued a warning to Nigerians celebrating Valentine’s Day today, February 14, 2025.
Valentine’s Day, a day for expressing love among couples, friends, and loved ones, is often marked by the exchange of gifts to show affection.
However, advising Nigerians on the types of gifts they can give today, Stan Alieke, via his Instastory some minutes ago, revealed that making money cakes, money flowers, or money bouquets are criminal offenses punishable by at least six months in jail, as provided in Section 21 of the CBN Act, 2007.
He warned that any of the aforementioned gifts could land one in jail, noting that ignorance of the law is not an excuse.
Stan Alieke wrote on his Instastory:
"Making of money cakes, money flowers or money bouquets are all criminal offences punishable with at least six months jail term as provided in S. 21 of the CBN Act, 2007. So if you have a money cake/ money bouquet as one of the Valentine gifts you intend to gift your partner today, know that you may land yourself in jail & ignorance of the law is not an excuse."
