Charmian Carr, the actress who played the eldest of the Von Trapp daughters in the phenomenal ‘Sound of Music‘ movie has died. She died at the age of 73 as a result of complications from a rare case of dementia.

She wrote two books on her experience of playing Liesl Von Trapp;  Forever Liesl and Letters to Liesl. ‘Sound of Music’ was at one time the highest grossing movie of all time.

After quitting acting, Charmian ran an interior decorating firm.
