The Stars Return

Maybe the best part of the return of the stars is that the sequels to Heavy Rain and Queen Of Hasso Rock would finally come out, or maybe it is that we would not have to see Desmond Elliot in so many pictures again (I can't believe I actually miss Emeka Ike). But in reality bringing the banned actors back would only make Nollywood realize and appreciate the meaning of star power. Barely two weeks after calling off the ban, Ramsey Noauh has returned to being the most sort after star in the industry. The ban has only made these stars more powerful, and even though the ban was intended at bringing down their fees, maybe the ban has only made producers realize how much money these banned actors made for them, they would probably be willing to pay almost anything to get them back as some stars have decided to make very selected pictures. The ban over, Richard Mofe Damijo is not ready to resume work yet, Genevieve Nnaji would appear in 30 Days due for release in December, Emeka Ike and Ramsey Noauh would return in Heavy Rain 2 alongside Chioma Chukwuka. Sam Dede who was put on the banned list much later than the others is yet to accept any script and Pete Edochie does not intend on returning. In reality, has the ban helped any upcoming act? Ini Edo made it and would have regardless but seriously, this ban almost ruined Desmond Elliot's career and marriage, the man was involved in everything no matter how hopeless. Hanks Anuku did not exploit the ban nor did Chidi Mokeme, Rita Dominic or Chioma Chukwuka and they have grown regardless. Pat Attah made more appearances than usual, but which 'nobody' became hot? None. It only gave the 'almost big' ones a chance to really shine. But the people the ban helped the most were those involved, though it meant they could not do what they love doiing most for an entire year, it gave them the opportuntity to explore other talents or just take really long breaks. Jim Iyke toured the world and gave lectures in American Universities, Genevieve became the face of Lux and released a very successful album, Nkem Owoh's album 'I Go Chop Your Dollars' sold millions of copies and was later banned by the EFCC. Ramsey Nouah returned to T.V, Richard Mofe Damijo went to law school, Kenneth Okonkwo faced his marketing business, Omotola started an NGO and prepared an album, Stella Damasus signed to Kingsley Ogoro's label, Sam Dede lectured in University Of Port.
