Nigerian actor, Nonso Diobi, has opened up on how he got his major breakthrough in the Nollywood industry.

Speaking in a recent episode of the ‘Nollywood Hardcore’ podcast, the actor explained that his resemblance with veteran actor Hilda Dokubo was what opened the door to his breakthrough in the movie industry.

Explaining further, he noted that he went for an audition and Hilda Dokubo was present at the audition. he noted that she sighted him and instantly chose him to cast him as her brother in the movie due to their striking resemblance.

He said:
“Back to the story of how I got my first movie role. I was at an audition and I started hearing people calling me from afar. I approached. Before I could get close to them, Hilda Dokubo said, ‘This young boy looks like me. He can play my brother.’

"That was how I finally got my first role after three years and more than 1000 auditions. I didn’t even audition for it.”
