Yoruba Actor Okemesi Passes On Following Drug Complications
It is a sad time for the Nollywood industry, particularly the Yoruba section, as one of its stars Bamidele Tope Saint, widely known as Okemesi, has passed on.
The actor's death was disclosed by his colleague Tony Montana Jeff, who in a video on social media, revealed that Okemesi gave up the ghost on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at about 11:50 a.m, following complications from drugs administered to him, at the hospital that put him in a coma.
Tony Montana Jeff also shared that the late actor's body has been deposited in the morgue, promising to issue further updates about the burial arrangements to the public.
“With a heavy heart, I’m announcing to the world that Okemesi is dead. The doctor pronounced him dead at exactly 11:50 a.m. this morning, February 24, 2026. Okemesi is gone.
So, on behalf of the entire Bamidele family, I’m announcing to the world that Oluwatope Bamidele Saint Okemesi is dead. We have taken the body to the morgue. I will communicate the rest of the arrangements to you guys. We appreciate every one of you who turned up for him. May God forgive Okemesi and rest his soul."
Okemesi came into limelight through his comic roles in Yoruba movies, and particularly his use of the Ekiti dialect, which endeared him to several movie lovers.
