"I've Been Receiving Threats Over 'Lagos Is Smelling' Claim" - Acapella
Nigerian comedian, Acapella, has revealed that he has been receiving several threats over his insistence that Lagos is smelling.
The 'Lagos Is Smelling' ruckus began when popular influencer Scott Iguma, in a viral video, claimed that Lagos smells and is filled with “big mosquitoes."
This claim was sharply contrasted by the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, who accused individuals who migrated from other states to Lagos State of fuelling bad narratives about Lagos.
Tokunbo Wahab's statement led to an online banter between him and comedian Acapella, which went on for days.
However, taking to his X handle recently, Acapella revealed that he has been receiving threats over his 'Lagos Is Smelling' claims.
He wrote:
"Over The Past days, As expected, I've received several DMs and Few Calls making empty threats here and there. But, let me make it clear, that No Nigerian Is More Nigerian Than Any Other Nigerian. Don’t let anybody gaslight you into believing you are de marketing the country; especially when you point out the ills that befalls us as a Nation.
“The first step to solving any problem is to first identify there’s one. We are all we have. I hope with these few points of mine. I rest my case for now.”
