"Why Is JAMB Necessary To Gain Admission" - Actress Mary Njoku Questions Exam Relevance
Popular Nollywood actress, Mary Njoku, has questioned the reason behind the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), being the criteria for gaining admission into higher institutions in Nigeria.
She wondered why people have to sit for JAMB as a criteria for gaining admission. She also questioned if the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), is not sufficient enough for people to gain admission.
She wrote on her Instagram story:
"Why is it necessary to take the JAMB exam to gain admission into universities? Isn’t the SSCE sufficient?
“I don’t understand the need for JAMB + post-JAMB when the SSCE already shows we’ve completed secondary school.”
Recall that JAMB Registrar, Is-haq Oloyede admitted that there were errors in the JAMB results of this year, and he said the board has decided that all candidates affected in 157 out of 882 centres will be contacted to retake their examinations starting Friday, 16 May.
