"Afrobeats Artistes' Collaboration Would Increase Global Traction" - Asa Asika
The manager of Afrobeats star Davido, Asa Asika, has called on Afrobeats artistes to prioritize collaboration to increase the genre's global acceptance.
The long-term manager of the DMW boss made this known during a recent appearance on the Afropolitan podcast, where he claimed that the Afrobeats genre would have gained more global recognition if Davido, Wizkid, and other artistes were collaborating.
He cited how Latin music global recognition was due to collaborations among the likes of J Balvin, Nicky Jam, Bad Bunny, and other singers.
He said:
“Afrobeat would have been bigger if Davido, Wizkid and the likes of others were collaborating. I might be wrong but the probability of Afrobeat being more successful and bigger is a thing. Our genre ticket values at international shows will be stronger.”
