Darkoo Opens Up On Feeling Free After Telling Parents About Sexuality
British-Nigerian rapper and singer Oluwafisayo Isa, best known as Darkoo, has revealed how she felt after revealing her queer sexuality to her parents.
She revealed that it was not easy to disclose it to her parents due to fear, but when she eventually did, it was a burden that was lifted off her shoulders.
Featuring in a recent episode of ‘The Appointment Show’ podcast hosted by Layo, Darkoo emphasized how she felt after letting her parents know about her queer sexuality.
She said:
“The day I told my mom [about my sexuality], it felt like a massive weight off my shoulder… I’ve been happy since then,” she said.
“Opening up to my mom and dad was a great relief. It was hard on my mom more than my dad because I’m closer to her. It was very emotional for my mom.
“My dad was not interested in the conversation but at the end of the day, I’m living my life. And that’s what I’m doing.”
