Younger Artistes Don’t Want To Be Poor Like Me—Charly Boy

Popular singer and social crusader, Charles Oputa better known as Charly Boy, says younger artistes should not be blamed for their vulgar lyrics. The former PMAN boss said the fault should go to the listeners of these lewd songs.

Charly Boy said the fear of not staying poor like him has inspired these artistes to take to such type of music.

He said as a musician, the study of the environment and adapting to it is very key, which these younger musicians have done. Charly Boy said if the consumers fail to patronise them, these artistes would definitely change tactics.

“You cannot blame them for that, they didn't get into the business to come and be broke like me.
So, they want to make money, and not die poor like so many entertainers, If I know that some people like that, I will play that so that they can buy more and I can make money, period,” he told NAN.

"I can tell you what you want to hear and you will give me money,” he said further, adding that, “If you are not buying, the musicians will not produce it. It is because you are buying, that they are playing and making their money.”
