Clarion Chukwurah’s Name ‘Drag’ into The Sand

Hollywood is known for various awards like the Oscars, Hall of Fame and many other awards just to appreciate the efforts of their own who has sacrificed their time, skills, just to make movie a reality and interesting.

When many are recognized by writing their names in various categories in Hollywood, Nollywood is yet to have such a platform. Rather, it is all about politics and no recognition for the hard services of those who have struggled for the growth of the make belief industry.

Nollywood actress, Clarion Chukwurah, has boldly written her name on the sand that even the beach waters could not wash off her name from the sand. Hmm, even the sea now recognizes the actress, other recognition can stay.

She is best known for tongue-lashing any mal-administration in the make-belief world. Recently, the actress frowned at the way some bodies have messed up the rewarding system for entertainers through awards. According to her, award organizers walk away with the money while the award winners go home with nothing, but worthless plaques that make no difference to the Executive Producers.

Since she has received various awards in Nigeria without an Hall of Fame, the veteran actress, has decided to write her name on the sand of time where she will be well respected and acknowledged by the wind rather than human.

She said thirty years ago when she won the Best Actress Award at the All African Films Festival In Burkina Faso, it came with a Certificate and $500. Adding that nomination for the Golden Globe or the Oscar comes with a certain amount of money, transforms you to an A-list Actor and jerk up your fees, adding value to your career and your professional worth.

Well, in order not to step on toes, the actress, decided to boldly give herself fame. She sure does not need anybody's money at this stage of her life. Maybe what she needs to do is to help groom the younger ones in the industry and guide them to the top.

But does it mean that if a company should come up in Nigeria with something like “Nollywood Hall of Fame Awards” whereby winners will be given various rewards, will people not say a particular person does not deserve it? No hating here, just a suggestion for the growth of the industry.
