Governor Obi explains support to Churches

Governor Obi said that the numerous supports the government of Anambra State offered to the Churches was because government saw the Church as collaborators and not competitors. Besides, he said the Church was critical to the achievement of the MDGs in the year 2015 because being closer to the people, the government reached the people easier through them.

He made this assertion yesterday when he presented a brand new 18- Seater bus and ten computers to St. Mary the Virgin Convent, Ufuma, owned by the Anglican Diocese of Aguata. The Government equally presented a cheque for the registration of the vehicle and comprehensive insurance. Governor Obi reinstated the resolve of his government to use the resources of the State to build a better future with brighter prospect for the people of the State.

In his remarks, the Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Rt. Reverend Christian Efobi, represented by Venerable Eugene Nduka, thanked the Governor for his continued effort in elevating education to a pride of place and assured that the Church will support with prayers, and effect development of those infrastructure he made available to the Church.

The Principal of the School Mrs. Chinyere Osinachi who observed that Governor Obi had remained selfless and dedicated to his services to the people, recalled his prompt response to their distress call when the school was gutted by fire in 2009. She said that God was using him as a dependable instrument to renew the face of the State.

The Senior Prefect of the school Miss Ngozi Onwuekwe thanked the Governor for his love and care for children and prayed to God to continue to use him to bless the State.
