Lancelot Imasuen gets car gift @ 40th birthday

Leading Nollywood director Lancelot Oduadwa Imasuen turned 40 last Thursday, and already he has been painting the town red with series of activities marking his birthday.

One of Lancelot's birthday surprises was a car gift by one of the Edo State born money- bags. The philanthropist, HVP gathered, used the wonders on wheels to compensate the celebrated film maker for his immeasurable contribution to the growth of the nation's motion picture industry.

Lancelot's 40th birthday celebration kicked off last Thursday in Abuja, where he was hosted at the Presidential suite of the prestigious Hawthorn Suits.

He stormed Benin city last Saturday evening, and was hosted by the members of the Edo State movie industry. It was a night of fun, and testimonies of the immense contribution Lancelot has made towards the development of Edo indigenous film industry and Nollywood at large.

The Edo State born film maker who relocated his family to Abuja recently used the occasion of his birthday anniversary to unveil his latest project which has to do with shooting a $2million epic movie based on the 1897 invasion of the Benin Kingdom by the Bristish expedition titled 'Nogbaisi.”

Lancelot disclosed that , the shooting of the movie will commence in 2012.

Popularly known as The Governor, Lancelot is one of the most celebrated filmmakers today in Nigeria with over one hundred and fifty movies to his credit. In the year 2001, he directed twenty-nine movies and in all, twenty-six were hits in the market

This success story made him the first Nigerian movie director to have done so in Nigeria. He is also the first to have shot a part one to four movie (ISSAKABA) in Nollywood and a part five as a sequel to a part four “Please Come Back.”
