How debtors let Ashley down •None paid up while in coma

AS the movie industry mourn the passing of Ashley Nwosu, R has learnt that spirited efforts by the late actor's wife to raise money for his treatment was in vain as many deserted the Nwosus when it mattered most.

Information had it that about a week to the death of Ashley, his wife had approached as many of her husband's debtors as possible, to no avail.

“Many producers owed Ashley for featuring in their movies and since money was urgently needed to offset his medical bills, the wife expectedly ran to these debtors. Unfortunately, none of them could raise anything for the man.

“It is a shame that Ashley could be let down at the time of his need. Though many of them blamed their inability to pay up on the lull in the industry, it's surprising that the whole of them couldn't pay a dime,” R source said.

He was rushed to the Yaba Military Hospital in Lagos where he was put on life support machine.

Ashley had three daughters, one of them is a UK-based Lawyer, while the others are Mass Communication and Accountant graduates.

Nwosu, who had been in deep coma finally succumbed and passed on on Thursday.

The actor who had been in the hospital for close to a month suffering from severe liver problems.

He would be remembered for his wit and acts in Nigerian film industry.

Ashley started acting from NTA (Nigeria Television Authority), where he did some programmes; that was between 1988 and 1990. It was during his time that tele-movies were birthed. His first role in home movies was in Glamour Girls, part I in 1992 and before his demise, Ashley had featured in more than 50 popular home videos in Nigeria.
