Afrobeats sensation Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, widely known as Ayra Starr, has achieved a major international milestone as her 2021 hit single “Bloody Samaritan” receives a UK Silver certification.
The award, presented by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), recognises that the track has sold or streamed the equivalent of 200,000 units in the United Kingdom.
The song, which appears on her critically acclaimed debut album 19 & Dangerous released under Mavin Records, continues to demonstrate staying power years after its release.
Known for its bold lyrics and infectious production, “Bloody Samaritan” became an anthem and helped establish Ayra Starr as a leading voice in the new generation of Afrobeats.
With this latest honour, Ayra Starr joins a growing list of Nigerian artists who have secured UK Silver certifications, underscoring the expanding global influence of Afrobeats.
