"No Family Should Have To Live With This Kind Of Fear" – Funke Akindele Calls On Government To Address Ongoing Insecurity Crisis Following Recent Oyo Abductions
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has called on the Nigerian government to urgently intervene in the ongoing insecurity crisis ravaging the country, particularly the recent Oyo abductions.
Recall that social media has been on fire following the news of the abductions of some students, parents and teacher in Oyo state.
The tragic incident was further compounded by the gruesome slaughter of a Mathematics teacher in Oyo State, identified as Michael Oyedokun.
Joining the train of celebrities who have demanded for the release of the abductees, Akindele in a post on her X handle, described the recent Oyo abductions as "heartbreaking."
According to her, children are expected to be safe in school, and parents are supposed to be at peace once their wards are in school, however, reverse is the case currently.
She urged the government to take actions to secure the release of the abducted children, expressing solidarity with the family of the abductees.
She wrote:
"DAYS ARE COUNTING!!! This is so heartbreaking. Our children deserve to feel safe in school, and parents deserve peace of mind. The government needs to do more to protect our children and secure our schools. No family should have to live with this kind of fear.
My thoughts and prayers are with the affected families. May these children return home safely. Amen."
