Bolaji Ogunmola Speaks On Challenges Of Making Movies On YouTube
Nollywood actress and producer Bolaji Ogunmola, has expressed her view on popular streaming platform, YouTube, and the challenges it poses for producers and filmmakers in Nigeria.
Speaking in a recent interview with Jay On-Air, she noted how YouTube was not originally designed for films, mentioning that the production of any movie osts a significant amount of finances.
According to her, actors charge exorbitant fees to feature in a set for some days, while fans are with the narrative that millions of views amount to huge financial renumeration, a view she described as false.
Bolaji Ogunmola admonished Nigerians to adopt constructive criticisms of YouTube filmmakers, emphasizing that every movie costs significant amount of money to make.
She also pointed out how Nigeria stands out with numerous movies on YouTube, stating that is common due to the poor rate of distribution in the country.
She said:
"YouTube was never designed for films. Film is a very expensive art. Actors are collecting N4-5 million for four days. The least maybe N1-2 million."
