"It Feels Like Your Body Misfires" – Media Personality Chude Jideonwo Opens Up On Battling Tourette Syndrome
Renowned Nigerian media personality Chude Jideonwo, has opened up on his battle with Tourette Syndrome—an incurable neurodevelopmental condition that causes people to make sudden movements or sounds they can’t control.
While speaking in a recent interview with BBC News Africa, Chude disclosed that he noticed the signs in his 20s, before being diagnosed by his doctor.
He explained that his doctor advised him to avoid mentioning it in public in order not be stigmatized, particularly in Africa.
“When I was diagnosed, my doctor warned me not to talk about it in public that people are going to judge me. Especially in Africa. I began to consciously notice Tourette Syndrome in my late 20s. Is a neurological where it feels like your body misfires."
