Artistes and production crew of Bakan Dabo have hit location as the producers have got a special nod from the henchman of the Kano Films and Censors Board, Alhaji Abubakar Rabo to resume production.

The film, which is expected to feature some notable Nollywood stars – including renowned actor, Pete Edochie, who is not new to the Hausa film genre, had its production stalled as it was caught in the web of the controversy that recently overtook the local film industry popularly known as Kannywood due to the raunchy sex recording by one of the industry's top rate actresses, Maryam Hiyana, recently.

Edochie, who acted in the highly successful home video, Queen Amina, released a few years back, will lead some of his Nollywood colleagues to feature in the huge budget film.

However, Bakan Dabo crew have staged a comeback to location as a result of a special concession granted it by the regulating authorities due to the special nature of the production which has to do with the history and tradition of the people of Kano and by extension, the Hausa race.

The producers were expected to record some of the traditional rites involved in the last Sallah celebration, Eid-el-Kabir festival as part of the flick.

This obviously necessitated the approval given the producers by the Censors Board. It was gathered that the regulatory authority was a hard nut to crack and that it took the intervention of the Emirate Council before the go-ahead for production to resume was granted.

Meanwhile, the soundtrack of the film, handled by Lapazi Entertainment, was composed by Rabiu Jelle. The rendition came from the popular singer, Aminu Ahlan, and the sonorous voice of Maryam A. Baba (Sangadadi).

Besides, another special alligator sound has been rendered for Bakan Dabo. It was composed and played by the Sarkin Busa (Head of the Emir's flutists) himself, Alhaji Umaru Yahaya (Mai Alligator Galadima Kano).

According to the producer and director of the flick, Abdullahi Sarkin Fada and Auwal George, Bakan Dabo, which is the first epic film on any of the traditional rulers in the Northern part of the country, promises to be a bang.

It is being shot on High Definition (HD) camera with special effects, the kind never witnessed in the Northern film industry before. It also parades the finest artistes in this part of the country.

Some of them include veterans such as Kasumu Yaro, Dauda Galadanchi, Hussaini Sule Koki, Ibrahim Muhammad Mandawari, Kabiru Nakwango, Isa Bello Ja, Dan Magori, Amina Garba (Dumba), Zainab Booth, Hauwa Ali Dodo (Biba), Hajiya Tambaya, Hajara Usman, Tambawa Kaduna and Hafsat Sharada (Me Aya).

Others who are mainly a latter generation of prolific actors and actresses in the Hausa film genre are Ali Nuhu, Shuaibu Lawal (Kumurchi), Sani Musa Danja, Mai Shinku Ibrahim, Salihu 'Hotman' Isah, Saratu Gidado and a lot more
