The Crocodile That Refused To Answer: As Anambra Native Doctor Failed To Invoke The Queen Of Coast
It was supposed to be a grand display of spiritual bypass in Anambra State yesterday, but it ended in an awkward, silent standoff by a riverbank.
John Paul Ezenagu, a popular native doctor known by the title "Mmuo Mmili Afulu Anya", found himself in the custody of the Udogachi Security Team. Far from being intimidated, Ezenagu doubled down on his mystical credentials. He boldly claimed to be a direct servant of the Nne Nwanyi Mmiri (the Queen of the Coast), asserting that his spiritual patron was very much active and ready to intervene.
To prove his point, he made a daring promise: if he performed his incantations, the Queen would manifest physically as a crocodile to answer his prayers and, presumably, secure his freedom.

Intrigued (or perhaps just curious to see a reptile), the security operatives followed him to a nearby stream where he usually conducts his sacrifices. The stage was set. The team waited. Ezenagu began his rituals, calling out to the deep. Nothing.
Thinking he just needed more "reception," he began making what witnesses described as "mysterious calls" and intense incantations. When the crocodile still refused to show up, he claimed he needed his sacred bell to truly get her attention. The officers allowed him to fetch it.
With the bell clanging and his voice rising, the performance shifted. As the minutes ticked by and the water remained still, Ezenagu’s tone reportedly spiraled from authoritative begging to frantic shouting, and eventually, actual tears.
Onlookers couldn't help but crack jokes, suggesting that the Queen of the Coast probably took one look at the security uniforms and decided to "vacate the premises" immediately.
With his "spiritual backup" nowhere to be found, the once-confident Mmuo Mmili Afulu Anya ditched the incantations for a more traditional strategy: pleading. The day ended with the native doctor begging the security team and the Anambra State Governor for mercy, proving that even the Queen of the Coast knows when to stay under the radar.
