Nollywood actor Francis Odega, has spoken about the current state of the Nigerian movie industry, and how it has dwindled compared to the previous years.

The famous veteran made a recent appearance on the 'Where Is The Lie’ podcast, sharing how the quality of movies have greatly reduced. He cited how in previous years, the movie industry was known to produce timeless movies, but the same can't be said for the current movie industry.

He further shared insights into the history of Nollywood, revealing that he played a great part in its formation stage, and was part of its transformation from Nigerian Actors Guild (NAG), to the Actors' Guild of Nigeria (AGN).

He said:
“Back then, one script would give us one unforgettable movie. But now, one script can give you seven bad movies, and that’s not right. Nollywood back then, is far better than the Nollywood of today.

“I was among of the people who made Nollywood. When we started, Nollywood was just a phenomenon. Our organisation used to be called Nigerian Actors Guild, NAG, before we later changed it to Actors’ Guild Of Nigeria, AGN.

“It was after then that Nollywood came. So, I am one of the pioneers of Nollywood. I have been in the movie industry for 30 years."
