Davido Drops Joint Custody Battle Over Daughter, Imade, Following Court Outcome

By Oluwarantimi Oludase

Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has resigned to fate, following the joint custody battle between his ex, Sophia Momodu, over their daughter, Imade Adeleke.

Recall that The Nigerian Voice reported some days ago that a lawyer on X, Maruf Muhammed, via Twitter, alleged that the singer was in court in Yaba, where he lost his cool during cross-examination and was venting his anger.

Dropping an update on the outcome of the custody battle, the 'Feel' crooner on his X handle, revealed that contrary to speculations, he never asked for full custody, but joint custody.

He noted how there's nothing to celebrate, as there was no winner or loser, except Imade. The singer further resigned to fate over the case, stating that he was lecturing the lawyer in the courtroom, until the card of his deceased son was pulled, which destabilized him.

Davido added that he is moving on now, emphasizing that his daughter will be aware that he did his best for her while growing up.

He wrote:

"1) never asked for full custody. I asked for joint custody

2) Nobody won, nobody lost, but Imade… so I don’t know why some people are celebrating. There’s nothing to celebrate.

3 . I’ve decided to drop the case because when I was spanking that lawyer in the courtroom. She would get so frustrated because I normally finish school. I was finishing her… until she brought out her last card! MY DECEASED SON! THAT’S A NO-NO! Lowest blow!

4) My daughter will grow up knowing I fought for her.

Let’s move on.

One love!”
