It has been over a year since popular Nollywood couple Bukola Awoyemi, professionally known as Bukola Arugba, and Damola Olatunji, have gone their separate ways. This time, Bukola, has opened up on what led to their separation for the first time since their split.

Bukola, who was recently in a candid question-and-answer session with her fans on her YouTube channel was quizzed on what led to her marital split, and in response, she revealed that it was all down to the relationship not working.

According to her, Damola is living his life, and they are both co-parenting well. She also emphasized that he still remains the father of her twins, but she was left with no option than for them to go their separate ways because she tried her best to make the marriage work, but it didn't go as planned.

She, however, urged her fans to desist from asking further questions about she and her ex, as she does not want their past to affect his new relationship.

Bukola said:
“My ex is living his life, and we are not fighting. We are co-parenting very well. There are some things deeper than what the eyes can see. He is the father of my twins.

“We went our separate ways because it wasn’t working. I tried my best. I can only speak for myself—I tried my best to make it work, but it just wasn’t working. Please, I am saying this to all my fans: I beg you in God’s name, let sleeping dogs lie.

"We are both doing fine. I wouldn’t want what happened between us in his past relationship with me to affect his new relationship. Please, let the sleeping dog lie.”
