'return Of Jenifa': Funke Akindele Shares History Of First Cinema Movie, Admonishes Fans On The Importance Of 'consistency'

Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele, has shared an insight into her early days as a filmmaker in the Nigerian movie industry.

The box-office queen, via her Instagram page, shared a screenshot of a post from Africa Facts Zone, which showcased her cinema movie 'Return of Jenifa' and how it stood as the highest grossing movie in Nigerian cinemas in 2011. The record also stated that the movie grossed N35 Million, including 10 million within its first week of release.

The post read:
"Return of Jenifa, the highest grossing movie in Nigerian cinemas in 2011, with Funke Akindele as the lead actress, grossed N35 million (N10 million in its first week of release in only three cinemas). It ran till February 2012."

In her caption, Akindele described it as a "throwback to my first cinema movie," noting that she is surprised at how far she has come.

She appreciated everyone who have solidly stood behind her on the journey. In addition, she emphasized that "consistency is the key" to achieving such milestones.

She wrote:
"THE RETURN OF JENIFA!!!.
Throwback to my FIRST cinema movie, '2011'! Can't believe how far I've come... Big thanks to EVERYBODY that supported me on this journey! Shoutout to my amazing fans for the love over the years. You guys rock! And still winning!!!."
