In a new development on the ongoing cyberbullying case involving Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson and her colleague, Angela Okorie, Angela Okorie has finally been granted bail after spending some days in prison.
During the case hearing in the Federal High Court in Abuja, on Friday, Justice Emeka Nwite granted the request of the accused's lawyer, Earnest Nwoye, stating that the actress has no reason to jump bail if granted, warning that the bail conditions must be upheld lawfully and to the core.
The bail terms was placed as N5 million bail with one surety in like sum for allegedly cyberbullying. The surety is mandated to depose to affidavit of means and must be a level 13 civil servant, including producing his appointment letter and letter of their last promotion in the service.
Additionally, Okorie and her surety are to submit two passport photographs to the court, which must be verified.
Conclusively, the court adjourned the case until March 23, ordering Angel Okorie to remain at the Suleja Correctional Centre until fulfilment of her bail conditions.
Recall that The Nigerian Voice reported some days ago, that the founder of BON awards, Seun Oloketuyi, had revealed that Okorie was arrested at her residence by the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre, Abuja.
Shedding further light, Seun stated that the reason behind Angel Okorie's arrest was related to a "cybercrime" matter involving Mercy Johnson.
