“We Are Not Growing Together" - Singer Waje On Why She Can't Date An Unsuccessful Man
Nigerian singer, Aituaje Iruobe, known as Waje, has revealed that she cannot settle for an unsuccessful man.
The singer made this revelation while speaking during a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast. She explained that the reason behind her decision not to settle for less is because she's no longer young, and she is not ready to start growing from the scratch.
"I can’t marry someone who is not successful, and here’s why: first of all, I’m not in my 20s so we are not growing together.
"A man leads, he leads by selling aspirations to me. I have to aspire to see him lead. And if he can’t inspire me to grow, we can’t be partners. So, success is part of it. Faith and emotional intelligence are also part of it."
Waje further emphasized that she can't settle for a younger person, stressing that she would be treating him like a child, which would result in hatred from him.
"We will have issues. I’m very pragmatic. I sometimes have to hold myself with my siblings, my friends, and my family members. Imagine if it was a husband? He would get tired. I will be treating him like my child. He would hate me."
