Nollywood Actress Halima Abubakar Breaks Down in Emotional Viral Video, Pleads for Financial and Emotional Support
Popular Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has appealed to the public for financial assistance, citing her inability to cater to her needs amid a prolonged health crisis.
The Nigerian Voice recalls that Halima Abubakar was suspended from the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) in October 2024. The announcement was made by the guild’s president, Emeka Rollas, via his social media handle.
In a recent turn of events, the actress, in a viral video posted on her Instagram page, appealed to the public for support, revealing that she has been unwell for some time. She admitted that she has been putting on a brave face, pretending to be okay despite her struggles.
Appearing visibly ill in the video, Halima disclosed that her recent social media posts, which featured TikTok filters, masked her true state of health. She emphasized that she has been seriously unwell and requires medical tests to determine the root cause of her condition.
The actress also expressed frustration with her colleagues in the movie industry, accusing them of dismissing her health struggles as fabricated. She lamented that they have refused to believe her predicament, further isolating her during this challenging period.
In the emotional video, Halima Abubakar said:
“People are confused about what is happening. I’m not feeling fine up till now; I’m just good at being strong. I’m just pretending as if I’m okay. This is the real me because every day you see me post pictures with the TikTok filter, but this is how I look. How could somebody say I’m lying that I am sick? I go to a Turkish hospital, which is the biggest in Nigeria, but this is not me. I don’t just know.
“You sacked me from Nollywood, but what’s all this betrayal about? It’s a mad person that lies that they are sick. They said I was never sick, that I was lying. I was in the village for more than one [year]. I moved here recently because of the hospital where I go for check-ups. I’m now done with check-ups; there’s nothing wrong medically now.
“I’m supposed to have an MRI, and I’m still waiting to go to have it. I have so many things medically to do. My MRI, my BP is 157. What am I thinking? My own best friend said I am lying to the public, and we are not even living in the same place. You didn’t come to check on me even once.
“It’s over 6 years since I have appeared in a movie. What else do you guys want? Do you want me to die or kill myself? I am heartbroken. Can’t you all see how I look? I have done MRI three times at a Turkish hospital.”
