Portable Declared Wanted: Stan Alieke Advises on Honoring Police Invitations Amid Ogun State Government Dispute
Popular Nigerian lawyer, Stan Alieke, has weighed in on controversial singer Portable's issue with the Ogun State government and police force, issuing legal advice to his followers.
The Nigerian Voice recalls that Portable was declared wanted on Monday night by the Ogun State Police over allegations of leading a violent attack on officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
Weighing in on the development, Stan Alieke, via his Instastory in the early hours of today, stated that based on Portable's predicament, he would always advise that whenever anyone is invited by the police or any law enforcement agency, it is better to honor the invitation and go. He stressed that it is preferable to comply, as the worst that could happen is detention, from which a lawyer can secure bail.
Stan Alieke said:
"On Portable: I'd always advise that whenever the police or any law enforcement agency invites you to honour the invite & go, it's more honourable that way, the worst that could happen is that they detain you & your lawyer bail you out.
If the police invite you & you don't go, you have given them a reason to come & arrest you & even exert any amount of reasonable force in arresting you if you try to resist the arrest or publicly declare you wanted. They can also freeze your bank accounts until you show up. You can never f!ght, runaway or hide from the govn't."
