Simi Calls Out INEC For Spending #300billion On What She Calls "Joke" Elections
Popular Nigerian female singer and songwriter, Simi has called out the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, for spending a whopping amount of money on a cripple-like election.
In the post shared online, Simi calls out the electoral body known as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for spending as much as N300 billion for the elections.
Recall that elections for presidential, governorship, senatorial, and other positions were held across the country. Following the completion of the election, there were claims in virtually all sections of the country that the election was not a free and fair one. Truly, there were apparent cases of electoral manipulation like snatching of ballot boxes, open intimidation, etc.
In light of this, the talented female singer, Simi called out the INEC and faulted the election. She described the election as nothing but a joke.
She was very critical about spending a huge amount of 300 billion naira for such discredited election. She said the money could have been spent on infrastructure like health care services and education.
Her criticism is beginning to generate controversies as many people corroborate her standpoint.
Her words read:
Simi wrote, “300 billion naira budget for this joke of an election. @inecnigeria you might have as well given them back the money to fix some hospitals and schools and just used a finger to point at the people you wanted to select.”
