MOBO Awards: Ayra Starr Ties As Top Winner
Nigerian singer Oyinkonsola Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, emerged as the joint top winner at the recently concluded 2025 MOBO Awards, held on Tuesday night at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena.
The 'Sability' crooner triumphed over renowned international artists, securing victories in two categories: Best African Act and Best International Act.
In the Best International Act category, Ayra Starr outshined global stars such as Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Megan Thee Stallion, Tems, Asake, and Tyla.
Additionally, she claimed the Best African Act award, defeating fellow African contenders including Asake, Rema, Tems, Burna Boy, and Tyla. This win marks her as the first female artist to win the category in 16 years.
