I Don’t Look Like Reekado Banks, Reekado Banks Looks Like Me - Kul Gp

By ESTHER OLANREWAJU

He is a graduate of International Relations from Les Cours Sonou University in the Republic of Benin. His real name is Ariwodo Frank Chimaobi but he likes to be called by his professional name, KUL- GP or among his friends, ‘Gee–Pee!’.

Says KUL-GP, “I’m an Afro-Pop, Dancehall and R&B artiste with a difference. I have a bond with music, cause wherever I go, music goes with me. Music is always all around me. I started music officially in 2010, but I’ve been singing since I was 9, for the church choir. I have always wanted to make it BIG in the music industry. I want the world to hear of me. Not long ago, it appeared like a dream. Suddenly, it is no longer a dream because I am in the right place at the right time. KUL GP is heading for the top!

“They tell me that KUL-GP has a strong resemblance with Reekado Banks. That is not true. KUL-GP is an original. Everything about me is authentic: my music, my dance, my style; 100% authentic. Just wait until you hear the sound and see the steps. Since I am the real thing, maybe Reekado Banks looks like me!”

The music of KUL-GP is set to burn up the dance floor and keep music lovers singing and rocking big time. For several months, Gee-Pee has been under the tutelage of the man they call ‘the boss’, the perfectionist former PMAN President and COSON Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji. He is one of the very lucky young Nigerian creative talents taken under the wings of TOPS, the hot music production, publishing, distribution and events company owned by Chief Tony Okoroji who for many years was an outstanding music producer and Artiste & Repertoire Manager for the world-wide recording company, EMI.

Says KUL-GP, “At TOPS, the boss has told each of us to fly high and reach for the skies. He has asked everyone in the gang to delete the word, ‘impossible’ from our dictionaries. We are all crazy and ready to go: young song writers, singers, producers, choreographers, managers, et al. Boy, you don’t know how good it is to work under someone who knows what he is doing. Our boss is a perfectionist. With him, nothing is good until it is good. He has seen it all and gives you the confidence that you can do anything. At TOPS, we are a family working for each other. We break the rules and reset them and when the boss is happy, we are happy. It is a privilege to be in the TOPS family. KUL-GP is heading for the top”.

KUL-GP whose parents come from Abia State is the fourth child of his parent’s four children. He is the last born – Mummy’s boy!
