Emerging Nollywood heartthrob, Chinemerem Emmanuel Ijesa, has countered insinuations in some quarters that his soaring profile in the film industry will certainly make him the desire of many Nollywood actresses.

According to him, he is more concerned with getting to the peak of his career than frolicking with Nollywood women. “Yes, those things are inevitable but at my age, I am more concerned with getting to the peak of my acting career than indulging in Nollwood women. For now, they should park well, so I can reach my goals first.”

With a couple of films up his sleeves, it appears he is having a firm grip of the industry, going by the buzz amongst stakeholders in the film industry.

This is, of course, premised on the stellar performances has so far shown in films like 'Living in Tears' where he played Mike, alongside Nollywood's legend, Pete Edochie. “I played Edochie's son in the film, and it is one of the roles a lot of my fans talk about. While it was an opportunity to square up with a larger than life image like Edochie, I must confess that it made me raise my bar because acting with Edochie, with his wealth of experience was inspiring”.

Other films that have the imprint of Ijesa are 'Grave Dust', where he played Dickson alongside Ramsey Nouah as well as 'In the Deep', a film shot for cinema. According to him, “I love 'In the Deep', a great deal. It is a project positioned to draw attention on the menace of diabetes especially as regards depression. I have passion for films that have social relevance, films that fight causes”.

How and when did he opt for film acting? He says it started from childhood. He also stressed that he played all the games a growing child in a typical African city will play. “I grew up normally but I had and still have great love for films, books, stage drama. It all started from there.”

Born in 1995, Ijesa is a native of Amiri, Oru East LGA of Imo State and has in his short career garnered seven award nominations locally and internationally, pointing to a future that is bright.
