Most of us saw the picture of Durella whose real name is Oluwadamilare Okulaja drinking garri that was garnished with groundnut and a can of peak milk, well that picture has forced tongues to wriggle. Some of his fans have said that the “Shayo” master is broke for drinking garri. However, that may not be the case in this matter.

We can recall in 2013 when D'banj in his quest for dominance in the Nigerian music scene signed up Durella, he self-proclaimed 'African Michael Jacskon', that was after years of beef. Durella once clearly stated that D'banj had stolen his style. Truthfully, they did sound very similar.

Back to our story, Durella has finally explained the garri scandal “I came back from a long journey and wanted something to quench my thirst. The only thing that can do it is to drink garri. I love drinking garri. That is why I tagged it and wrote never forget those things you fed on during the time of hustle because they are real food meant for the body. It doesn't mean I am broke”.
