Nollywood actor and former reality show star, Uti Nwachukwu, recently disclosed that his journey in the modelling industry has not been rosy, saying some agency that hired him while coming up in the industry took advantage of his inexperience and hunger for fame.

According to the handsome former Big Brother Africa (BBA) winner, models are being treated like house-help and paid peanuts after collecting huge amount of money from their clients.

“My experience in modelling wasn't a very rosy one. That's because modelling agencies don't treat models well. In fact, they treated us like house-boys and house-girls. Companies pay modelling agencies good money for models, but at the end of the day, we get peanuts.

“A telecommunications company could budget as high as N1million or N2million for each model, but at the end of the day, modelling agencies would pay us like 200,000, sometimes 50,000. I have once done a show for TVC and was paid 30,000. So, it was that ridiculous!” Uti said.

“Nigerian productions and their production in terms of human resources, electricity, studio quality, equipment quality and picture quality are obviously different.

“South Africans' lighting, studio arrangement etc. are perfect. Most Nigerians need to learn to be hard-working, because most of them want to get paid without doing anything! Everybody wants to be an oga (boss); nobody wants to serve,” he told Daily Times.
