BREAKING: Court Declares Emeka Ike As AGN President, Dissolves BoT
A Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has declared popular actor, Emeka Ike, as the authentic president of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
In its judgement on Monday, March 16, 2015, the court held that the election that brought Ibinabo Fiberesima into office as the guild's president violated an earlier court ruling, which ordered that a status quo be maintained.
Ibinabo was taken to court by St Maradona Mikevine in a suit challenging the election that ushered in the former beauty queen as the guild's president.
St Maradona's lawyer, Malcolm Omirhobo, who spoke with Nollywoodgists.com after the court judgement on Monday, noted that all their prayers to the court were answered.
The court also ruled that the BoT of AGN, headed by Prince Ifeanyi Dikeh, be dissolved as its tenure had long expired.
Meanwhile, Ibinabo has vowed to appeal the judgement. She confirmed this to Nollywoodgists.com when contacted after the Monday's judgement.
It would be recalled that Emeka Ike took Segun Arinze to court over this matter, but after Segun Arinze ended his tenure, an election was conducted and he handed over the reins of the guild to Ibinabo, who was only re-elected for a second term in that last quarter of 2014.
More details later.
