Patrick Obahiagbon Mocks Actors Joining Politics
Controversial politician and former Federal lawmaker from Edo State, Patrick Obahiagbon has reacted to the recent trend of entertainers, especially movie actors trying their luck with politics.
In recent times, some Nigerian entertainers have made their intentions known to dabble into politics, which is believed to be a very dirty game in Nigeria and a quick avenue to amass wealth through the embezzlement of public funds.
The likes of Kate Henshaw, Desmond Elliot, Tony Tetuila, 9ice, KSB, Bob Manuel Ndokwu, Julius Agwu and some others have expressed their desire to take political positions in their respective domains.
While some Nigerians have questioned the genuineness of these moves by the entertainers, Obahiagbon, who is currently the Chief of Staff to the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has sarcastically said he hopes Nollywood gets improvement because of it.
In his words, “With this recent Nollywood to politics trend, maybe the movies will get better.”
Though a top Hollywood actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger became the Governor of California in the USA, it is not certain if any of the Nigerian entertainers would end up being a successful politician, especially Julius Agwu who wishes to occupy the position of Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State in 2015.
For now, some Nigerians still see these entertainers joining politics as jockers.
