Osun To Host 2014 YMAA As Organisers Seal Deal With DAWN

The prestigious Yoruba Movies Academy Awards (YMAA) is set to hold its 2014 edition in Osun State, Nollywoodgists.com has confirmed. We reliably gathered that the event is expected to hold in November.

The 2013 edition of the glamorous occasion took place in Ibadan, Oyo State on Sunday, March 30, 2014, and was attended by the crème de le crème of the Yoruba movie industry.

Also, we were reliable informed that the organisers of YMAA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) commission. This took place on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the DAWN commission office situated in Cocoa House, Dugbe, Ibadan.

The agreement was signed in the presence of YMAA president and Executive producer, Tunde Oshinibosi, popularly known as Laface and it is geared towards the yearly actualization and continued development of the YMAA project and the Yoruba film Industry.

Speaking at the ground-breaking occasion, Laface expressed his sincere gratitude to the Director General of DAWN commission, Mr Dipo Famakinwa, and his team for their tremendous endeavours in the socio economic development and regional Integration across western Nigeria, using the Yoruba movie industry to build a strong and viable economy in the region.

He commended the Commission for keying into the YMAA vision, which has been embraced by major stakeholders in the Yoruba movie world.

It was gathered that the DAWN commission, in furtherance to achieving its five pillars of development of economic competitiveness, building inclusive institutions, infrastructural development, social and human development and home affairs, sees the YMAA project as a viable socio economic and regional integration project with a strong emotional connect to aid the overall development of the Yoruba culture and race.

The maiden edition of the historic and overwhelmingly popular awards was held in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, and was hosted by the state government amidst glamour, style and paparazzi.

Since then, the event has been supported by several reputable platforms.

YMAA focuses on propagating the rich Yoruba culture and race globally through the overwhelming popularity of Yoruba movies and the vision of making YMAA the biggest and most glamorous indigenous and cultural awards in Africa and the diaspora in the next three years in furtherance to creating an all-encompassing Yoruba film festival the first of its kind in Nigeria, Africa and the diaspora

From information scooped by Nollywoodgists.com, all is now set to make the 2014 edition of the ceremony a groundbreaking one. Preparations have already started for the November 2014 event and the 'Omoluabi' state (Osun) is ready to give stakeholders in the industry seven star treatment.
