Student of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) staged a protest on Thursday to demand for a reduction in their tuition fee. The demonstration was continued on Friday, but it later turned violent.

As early as 6:30 am today, they stormed major roads in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, and allegedly started destroying properties, also causing traffic gridlock in the area.

The incident resulted into the use of tear gas by some policemen in a bid to disperse the angry students.

The students say they will not pay more than N50,000 for tuition fee, vowing to reject anything more than that.
