How SARS Boss, SP Abbar Kyari Tackled Crime In Lagos

Superintendent of Police in charge of Lagos Anti-Robbery Squad, Ikeja, SP Abbar Kyari, no doubt has proven to be dependable in fighting several crimes in Lagos State. No wonder the crime rate in the city has drastically reduced.

A dependable source close to Abbar Kyari informed us that on March 10, 2014, based on information received from the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Umar Abubakar Manko, passed a directive to the SARS boss to arrest one notorious armed robber identified as Olatunbosun Olatunji, who had been terrorizing citizens of the state.

Trust Abbar, the award winning super cop, who quickly swung into action, nabbed the suspect at Subaru area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, with AK47 rifle.

Upon his arrest, the alleged criminal reportedly confessed to have bought the AK47 rifle from one Abdulazeez Amao, a notorious arms dealer in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The SARS Decoy teams were deployed to Ibadan and after eight days of intensive and diligent follow-up, Amao was apprehended at Ayegun Adasun area of Olomi Bus Stop in Ibadan. Ten rifles were said to have been recovered from him and he reportedly confessed to have sold several other AK47 rifles and English pistols to many buyers in Oyo, Lagos and Anambra States.

Amao, in his reported further confession was said to have been buying the rifles for 600.000CFA, equivalent to N200,000 each from one Zakari Watara of Wayalga area in Ouagadougu, the Burkina Faso capital.

Further checks revealed that Watara get his own supply from Mali where he would then transport the rifles to Wayalaga Market in Burkina Faso from where Amao buys from and packed it into milk cartons and transport the arms to Paraku Town in Benin Republic from where he repackages it into sack containing yam powder (Elubo) and then to take them to Ibadan through Kabo Border for the final consumers.

The Command, in 2013 alone, recorded a huge success in combating crime in Lagos State and they have since been highly rewarded with several laurels from Lagos State Government and the Inspector General of Police, MD Abubakar for a well done job.

One of the prominent cases that cannot be forgotten in a hurry was the arrest of kidnappers of the mother of the Finance Minister, Mrs Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and many other kidnappings, including the Ejigbo chairman's case.

Another remarkable feat recorded was the successful arrest of the South West armed robber kingpin, Abiodun Egunjobi, popularly known as Godogodo, after several surveillance, was arrested in his mansion at Olowu area of Egbeda, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Egunjobi, before his arrest, was said to have killed over 50 police officers and several civilians during his operations in the South West region of the country. The 30 gang member met their waterloo after their kingpin was nabbed with several arms and ammunition. The Ayobo Access Bank robbery arrest is still the major discourse within and outside police circuit.

The operation, it would be recalled was a fatal one where ASP Longnus Amuzie and few other policemen were killed in the process. The situation was put under control when the SARS team were drafted to take over case.

Their advanced technology driven investigation led the team eventually arrest the five gang members after which they made several confessional statements.

Our further checks from a reliable source confirmed that the top military boss has informed his men that he would continue to combat crime in the state in order to make it a safest place for residents of Lagos to live in.
