Teenager, 9-year-old kidnap baby, demand for N2m ransom
A teenager, Rachael John and a nine-year-old, Joy Atunramu, have been arrested by detectives attached to Ilese Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Command, for allegedly kidnapping a nine-month old baby at Old Toll gate area of Ijebu-Ode.
In a statement signed by the command's Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, made available to the Tribune Online on Thursday, the suspects committed the offence last Wednesday at about 12.12 p.m.
It was gathered that the teenager and the mother of the stolen baby had sometimes had disagreements, and she had vowed to 'deal' with the woman.
Adejobi said the case was reported to the police on the same day by the mother of the missing child while the police swung into action and arrested the suspect at Ogbere area in Ijebu East Local Government.
The suspect, according to the statement, allegedly demanded for the sum of N2 million before she could release the baby.
