At Last, Yoruba Movies Academy Awards Holds March 30

Like R-Kelly sang in one of his songs, 'I see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I can feel heaven in its place, and that's the sign of a victory', the organisers of the glamorous Yoruba Movies Academy Awards (YMAA), can proudly sing this song and shout 'Eureka'.

After the event debuted in 2012 in Ogun State, there were anticipation for the second edition, which was to be hosted by the Oyo State government, just as the Ogun State government did in 2012, but due to some hitches, it never held last year as planned.

But now, there is joy in the air as the event, against all odds, will now hold on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the prestigious Ibadan Civic Centre Agodi Ibadan amidst fun, excitement, glamour and paparazzi.

YMAA is a celebration of creativity in the Yoruba movie industry and a date never to be missed in the Yoruba movie calendar will honour and celebrate creativity and distinguished Yoruba movie actors and actresses as they propagate the Yoruba movie industry and the Yoruba culture and race globally

Tunde Laface, the YMAA executive producer, confirmed to Nollywoodgists.com that the awards will kick off at 5pm with the creatively designed Yoruba carpet as guests and nominees arrive for the spectacular event. The main event will kick off at 7pm prompt.
YMAAwards categories include the following;

1 Actor in a Leading role
2 Actress in a Leading role
3 Supporting Actor in a Leading role
4 Supporting Actress in a Leading role
5 Best Marketer
6 Best Comedy Act
7 Best Comedy Film
8 Most Promising Actor
9 Most Promising Actress
10 Achievement in Cinematography
11 Achievement in Directing
12 Best Crossover Act
13 Best Musician in an Acting role
14 Best Picture
15 Achievement in Editing
16 Best Cultural Movie

Tunde Laface also stated that the honours category will celebrate movie greats like the late Kola Ogunmola, Adebayo Faleti, Lanre Hassan, Professor Akinwunmi Ishola and the late Duro Ladipo

All nominees are advised to encourage their numerous fans to log on and vote @www.ymaawards.com and follow the voting instructions carefully.

A carefully selected YMAA jury committee made up credible and distinguished individuals will also be set up to oversee the final nomination process.
